This intimate and
romantic vacation retreat is conveniently located 100 miles
from Washington D.C. and Baltimore, MD; 210 miles from
Philadelphia; and 150 miles from Pittsburgh, PA. The secluded
cottage has been lovingly restored and meticulously preserved
to its 1820's roots and is tastefully decorated with
furnishings that reflect the historic charm of the period.
Furnishings include antiques from the 1820 - 1840 period, but
modern amenities have been added for comfort and convenience.
Boasting a large front porch, the home begs for company to
share its breathtaking view of the beautiful surrounding
countryside. Gobbler's Knob has been featured in regional
magazines, local newspapers, and on national television.
The two-story home
provides delightful accommodations. The first floor includes a
separate dining room, a living room with a full-sized sleeper
sofa, and an immense wood-burning stone fireplace. The kitchen
is fully modern, equipped with a microwave oven and other
time-saving amenities. Across the hall from the full bathroom
is the R and R (Romance and Relaxation) room, featuring a
two-person whirlpool bath. The second floor features a master
bedroom with a king-sized bed and a second bedroom with a set
of twin beds. There is also a charming sitting room between
the bedrooms. For your convenience, there is also a washer and
dryer in the first-floor mudroom.
Your favorite
pastime may be relaxing in the hammock in the woods or on the
swing on the front porch; watching deer, raccoons, foxes,
rabbits, turkeys, and other wildlife; or enjoying a meal at
the picnic table in the woods. The surrounding area provides a
wealth of things to do and see. Cacapon Resort State Park is
five minutes away for hiking, sight-seeing, horseback riding,
boating, swimming, fishing, tennis, nature walks, and golf at
the Robert Trent Jones Championship Golf Course.

The historic village
of Berkeley Springs, the country's first spa and one of "America's
Top 25 Art Destinations," beckons one to explore antique
malls, art studios, galleries, and craft shops, the local
museum, and the Morgan County Historical and Genealogical
Society's Morgan Room at the public library. Other popular
sights and activities include the C&O Canal Towpath, Rails
to Trails, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon and Potomac River float
trips, snowtubing, skiing, Civil War Battlefields, and
Harper's Ferry National Park. After a long day of recreation,
you might want to unwind with a natural mineral bath or
massage at Berkeley Springs State Park Bath House or at one of
the numerous other private spas.
