Pipe Creek originates on the Ranch as the combined flow of numerous springs. You'll enjoy seven lakes in the main valley, the spectacular catch-and-release bass and perch fishing, canoeing, and swimming.

Looking for something a little more relaxing? Take pleasure in the many refuges for quiet contemplation. You won't be the first to enjoy nature's gifts. The Cretaceous limestone layers chronicle the evolution of the seabed and provide us with a glimpse of a very different environment indeed. Dinosaur tracks have been found on a creek bed located five miles away. For the amateur geologist, the Ranch a must-see!

The Ranch is a nature habitat for a startlingly wide variety of birds, including scarlet tanagers, vermilion fly catchers, kingfishers, and blue herons, making it a worthwhile experience for avid and amateur "birders". There's a hummingbird feeder on the porch to attract the "zip" and "zap" of the black-chinned and other species of hummingbirds as they vie for dominance over the sweet red nectar.

If you visit us in the fall or late spring, you may just share the Ranch with thousands of Monarch butterflies migrating to and from their winter home in the central Mexican jungle. They flutter on the live oak trees like brightly colored autumn leaves.
