In town, New Braunfels has 18 museums, an abundance of 1800's houses and offers a smorgasbord of seasonal special events and activities. Don't miss shopping in Gruene (pronounced - green) and the nightly entertainment at Gruene Hall where local bands play a surprisingly good variety of bluegrass, rock, blues and just about every kind of country there is. Additionally, the Outlet Mall in San Marcos is one of the largest outlet malls in the country.

The Guadalupe River and Canyon Lake and Dam are great places to enjoy the water. Twenty-five minutes takes you to the eclectic towns of Comfort and Fredericksburg or Luckenbach, the legendary town made famous by Willie Nelson. An hours's drive takes you to San Antonio, with attractions such as Sea World, the Alamo, the famous San Antonio Riverwalk and Fiesta Texas, the Six Flags of the Southwest.

Hill Country activities might begin with a bracing cup of coffee on the veranda while watching for the occasional deer, jackrabbit or fox. There is usually plenty of sun for getting that great tan and lightening storms in this region can be spectacular.
