Attention lighthouse lovers: now you
have the chance to stay at a working lighthouse station on
the beautiful Mendocino coast of California. Revenue from
the Point Arena Lighthouse vacation rentals, three
renovated homes located on a magnificent peninsula with
fantastic scenery, assists in the maintenance and
development of the Point Arena Light House Station. |

Point Arena Lighthouse hosts over
30,000 visitors annually. It has been featured in two
films (1982's Treasure and 1992's Forever
Young with Mel Gibson), as well as in numerous
television commercials.
These three dream homes are available
all year long. Each three-bedroom, two-bath rental is
fully furnished with food preparation and dining
facilities, a large wood-burning heat stove, satellite
television, VCR, and the most beautiful of ocean views.
Adjacent to each home is a picnic table and lawn chairs. A
gazebo is close by. Imagine a wonderful meal enjoyed
outdoors in such a spectacular setting with friends and
family!
Not only will you have the unusual
opportunity to enmesh yourself in the history and natural
wonders of the site, but you will also be staying in one
of the most beautiful areas of the California coast.
Hiking, fishing, boating, and surfing are all available
nearby. There is an abundance of wildlife in this
unspoiled area, including migrating whales, harbor seals,
deer, bobcats, raccoons, and migratory birds such as the
rare Tundra swan, black cormorant, egret, and blue heron.
The location is a natural draw for whale-watchers,
bird-watchers, ocean-watchers, and, of course, lighthouse
enthusiasts.
Come support the preservation of Point
Arena Lighthouse and this beautiful spot along the
Mendocino Coast. Due to the preservation of the point over
time, some of the rarest species of coastal wildflowers
and plants can be found here. The Point Arena Lighthouse
vacation rentals offer not only all the comforts of home
in a gorgeous location, but also the wonderful feeling of
making a difference in lighthouse preservation. |

The Point Arena Lighthouse is open for
public tours every day of the year except Thanksgiving,
Christmas, and weekdays in December and January.
A modest site admission fee is required for entry. A
museum, located in the Fog Signal Building, includes
displays of historical equipment and pictures, Coast Guard
and ship wreck artifacts and charts, geographical maps and
information on the area, and examples of local plants,
birds, and whales.
Additionally, the work of local artists and
photographers is displayed, with occasional special art
exhibitions. Tours of the lighthouse tower and museum are
conducted by professional docents. Nature tours and bus
and school tours are available with advance reservation.
