Grandma McClain's Bourbon Balls

Grandma Irene McClain was a remarkable woman. When she was in her early 20's, she graduated from college. Then she boarded a train and went west to Manzanola, Colorado to become a school teacher. This was not something most young women did in her time. She married, had three children, and lost her husband when the children were very young. After he died, she took over his job as Postmaster in this small Colorado town. There she worked and raised her family. She never remarried. In her mid 80's, she moved from Manzanola to Denver, into retirement living. Just this year, she moved again to Corpus Christi, Texas to be closer to one of her daughters. During the holidays, Grandma McClain would make Bourbon Balls. ...Leanne McClain
