Winding steps lead upstairs to a hallway reading area. A half-bath is located off the hall. A small bedroom with a single bed faces the front of the house. At the end of the hall lies the original homestead bedroom complete with a small fireplace (inoperable, but charming). The room boasts some lovely antiques and a comfortable double bed. An adjoining door leads to the master bedroom providing a queen-sized bed and ceiling fan. An outer door leads to a large sun deck with lovely views of rolling meadows, two ponds and Sleepy Creek Mountain.

The house is heated by electric baseboard units and cooled with window air conditioners. All linens are included. There is a full bathroom on the first floor.

This has been a truly remarkable day at the home where I was born 94 years ago. I have visited here many times over the years and have wonderful memories of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, so many no longer with us. I am very grateful for my ancestors who have left a great legacy for me to try to live up to. Blessings on everyone else who may come here to relax and enjoy themselves.

We loved this! My mother, sister, and I came here for a girls weekend (one from D.C. and two from Nebraska) and we will come again. This was a charming place to stay. We loved sitting on the front porch gabbing. The meadows are beautiful. The peacefulness of these surroundings is sublime. We loved the house and all its special little rooms. The décor is great. The winding staircase to the second floor is so intriguing. What a welcoming place to come back to after a day of shopping and touring in Berkeley Springs. We went horseback riding at the Cacapon State Park, and enjoyed that immensely. The history binder of “The Old Homestead” is very interesting. Thanks for sharing this gem of a place. We loved our honey moon at the Old Homestead! The home and grounds are a dream. We especially enjoyed the hammock, front porch, and game nook. We can tell that the owners love this place by the lovely décor and thoughtful touches for guests. We appreciate how clean everything is and how well the A/C works!. We hope to come back again! P.S. Wildlife we saw included lots of birds, groundhog, and a doe with two fawns. Our favorite restaurants were Lot 12 and the Lockhouse in Hancock.
