Specialty Recipe

Cheddar Apple French Toast

Ingredients Topping:
1 cup sour cream
1/3 cup brown sugar
Ingredients French Toast:
12 slices white bread
6 eggs, beaten
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1/2 cups milk
1 Tablespoon butter
Ingredients Filling:
8 ounces thinly sliced ham
2-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
One 20-ounce can apple pie filling
1 cup granola with raisins

In small bowl, blend sour cream and brown sugar; chill. In medium bowl, beat eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla, and milk until fluffy. Heat butter on griddle. Dip bread in egg mixture and cook over medium heat about 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Place 6 slices of French toast in bottom of greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Layer ham, 2 cups of cheese, and remaining 6 slices of French toast. Spread apple filling over top; sprinkle with granola.

Bake in preheated 350 degrees oven for 25 minutes. Top with 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and continue baking until cheese is melted and casserole is hot, about 5 minutes. Serve with sour cream mixture.
