Chosen by the travel editor of the Los Angeles Times
as one of the dozen most romantic spots in the United States,
Turtleback Farm Inn is a country farmhouse located on Orcas
Island, called the loveliest of the San Juan Islands.
Turtleback Farm Inn was also recognized by Patricia Schultz
in 1000 Places to See Before You
Die - Fall 2003. "...Every night is
romantic in any of its eleven elegant, uncluttered guest
rooms, and every morning is special thanks to a prizewinning
breakfast so memorable that it's featured regularly in food
magazines, as well as in the inn's own Turtleback Cookbook."
Highlighted by a spectacular setting, detail-perfect
restoration and expansion, spotless maintenance, and
award-winning breakfasts, Turtleback Farm Inn is a haven for
discriminating travelers who enjoy comfortable lodgings,
breathtaking scenery, varied outdoor activities, unique
shopping, and fine food.
This graceful and comfortable inn offers seven bedrooms,
each with a private bath and decorated with a blend of fine
antiques and contemporary pieces. Each room has its own
individual charm which blends perfectly with the whole. The
addition of the very private Orchard House with four spacious
bedrooms, each with full bath, refrigerator, gas fireplace,
and private deck, adds another dimension to these fine
accommodations. All rooms have custom woolen comforters and
down pillows, radios, and hair dryers, and most have
clawfooted tubs.
Breakfast is served in the farmhouse dining room or on the
expansive deck overlooking the valley below -- welcoming the
morning sun. Tables are set with fine bone china, silver, and
crisp linen. Guests staying in the Orchard House enjoy
breakfast in the privacy and comfort of their own room. Every
effort is made to provide a zestful beginning to the day:
fresh fruits and juices, the Inn's own award-winning granola,
home-baked breads or pastries, and a daily main course
featuring farm-fresh eggs and meats in delightful
combinations. A wide assortment of teas and coffee is offered
and is available throughout the day. As the day ends, guests
are offered a glass of sherry, a cheery fire, and a game of
chess, cards, or Scrabble...a chance to step back in time and
recapture moments of good fellowship.
The Inn is centrally located in beautiful Crow Valley. Close
to Moran State Park, the Inn is six miles from the ferry
landing, almost three miles from the West Sound Marina, and
four miles from Eastsound, the island's principal village. For
those who are disposed to linger, there are many recreational
activities, including golf, tennis, sea kayaking, bicycle
rentals, bird watching, and freshwater fishing and swimming in
the park. Charter boats are available for saltwater fishing,
whale watching, cruising, and sailing, and the area boasts
fascinating artisans and shops as well as many excellent
restaurants. |
Escape the hustle and bustle of city and suburban life. At
Turtleback Farm Inn, the fire is crackling, the woods are
fragrant, and the cookies are warm. Bill and Susan await your
arrival and will spare no effort to ensure your memorable
vacation.
Unmatched Serenity...
Turtleback Farm Inn overlooks 80 acres of forest and
farmland in the shadow of Turtleback Mountain.
It commands a spectacular view of lush meadows, duck ponds,
and outbuildings, with Mt. Constitution providing the backdrop
to the east.
The setting is serene, complete with a fringe of fir trees
framing the open fields, which in the late spring produce
bales of hay for the resident sheep. A pair of 300-year-old
maples and six freshwater ponds complete this bucolic scene.
Guests may walk from the Inn into the pastures below.
Domestic geese and chickens share the land with an
ever-changing display of migratory birds and a flock of sheep,
including a new prized Cotswold ram and two registered ewes.
Bald and Golden Eagles are often seen soaring above the
ponds, and noisy crows, from which the valley gets its name,
perch on the barn surveying the scampering chickens below.
