Alexander's Country Inn Bed and Breakfast and Restaurant,
located just one mile from the southwest entrance of Mount
Rainier National Park, is one of Washington state's oldest
inns, serving guests since 1912.
Here you can enjoy attentive personal service at a small,
moderately priced hotel rated Three Diamonds by AAA.
This historic inn has become a favorite stop on the road to
Paradise.
The inn has European antique stained glass windows, and the
twelve guest rooms and suites are furnished with antique beds
and armoires. Quality linens and bouquets of fresh-cut flowers
add to the comfort and romance one expects at a historic inn,
and each room has a private bath. Also, Alexander's now offers
WiFi Internet access.
An outdoor hot tub overlooks a large trout pond complete
with waterfall. Alexander's guests are invited to walk the
nature trails and explore the back acreage which borders the
Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The landscape of towering
old-growth fir trees, lush fern grottos, and wildflowers is as
beautiful and pristine today as when the original homestead
was founded.
Beauty abounds for nature and wildlife photography,
birdwatching, or just taking a stroll in the woods.
Alexander's is a year-round bird lovers' mecca. Blue heron,
king fishers, woodpeckers, flickers, barn swallows, and,
during the warm months, scores of hummingbirds -- both rufus
and annas -- feed at the feeders and the trout pond. Follow
the trail head at Alexander's trout pond and within minutes
you'll be in the quiet and serenity of the national forest.
Look up and see 200-foot Douglas Firs towering overhead, while
at ground level, there are meadows of sword ferns, shamrocks,
and mosses. During the summer, the endless fields and valleys
of wildflowers are stunning in their beauty and numbers.
Open year 'round, Alexander's is two hours from Seattle, one
hour from Tacoma, and under three hours from Portland.
Alexander's staff offers warm and professional hospitality to
all who stop by. |
Known for its fresh rainbow trout, homemade bread, and
blackberry pie, Alexander's Restaurant promises
quality food in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Complimentary
breakfast is served in the restaurant, and in the evening,
guests relax in the parlor with a glass of wine and fresh
seasonal fruits.
The Mount Rainier area gives way to a wide range of
activities and recreational opportunities. Outdoor enthusiasts
-- both beginners and the more experienced -- will find hikes,
nature walks, mountain climbing, snowshoeing, cross-country
skiing, fly fishing, and biking. Some of the finest mountain
experiences anywhere are found right here at Mount Rainier.
The trout pond at Alexander's is about the size of a football
field and full of fish, including rainbow trout up to 18
inches long. Be sure to bring your fishing equipment! |
