Baked Apples at Shearer Hill Farm is more than a bed and breakfast inn. It is also a working farm where visitors can experience true Vermont living. Now in its 15th year of operation, the inn is located down a quiet, country road, away from the busy main roads in a very scenic area of southern Vermont.

The drive just before you reach the farm is simply magical with a glorious canopy of maples and oaks, a small lake off to the side and rural beauty only found in New England.

The inn itself is a handsome two story home with a well in the front yard and lovely grounds. Hosts Bill and Patti are genuinely happy to welcome guests with a hot cup of coffee and friendly conversation. There's plenty of time to explore this gorgeous farm that offers something unique and extremely beautiful in every season.

Breakfasts are really something special here at Shearer Hill Farm and have become a guest favorite.

Freshly baked muffins, breakfast faire and fresh coffee accompany the signature dish of tantalizing baked apples. A legend in B&B circles, these fruit treats are baked in "apple baker bowls" with a ceramic post in the center, and topped with homemade Vermont maple syrup.

When weather permits, indulge in this unique dish on the back deck and listen to the cows mooing (for their own breakfast) in the back pasture.

Accommodations at Shearer Hill are six large rooms, each with its own private bath. Furnishings range from comfortable king size beds to cozy twin beds each with covers made of welcoming warmth and country charm.

There is always something fun to do on or near the farm. Contact Bill or Patti to schedule your visit around special events like the Marlboro Music Festival, Strolling of the Heifers, Art on the Mountain, the Garlic Festival and the Maple Festival during sugaring season. Mount Snow, one of New England's most popular ski resorts, and Haystack Mountain ski area are within a short drive and Vermont Sleigh Rides are a must for everyone. In the summer, play golf, hike, mountain bike, fly fish and swim in some of the most beautiful scenery in America.
