The Pond House Bed & Breakfast is
nestled in the mountains in the heart of Vermont horse
country, just south of Woodstock, Vermont. The Inn is cozy
with a smattering of antiques - a mix of country and European
elegance. The accommodations include three guest rooms with
queen-sized beds and private baths with marble and European
fixtures. Abundant amenities include down comforters, 600
thread count linens, feather beds, IPod docks, High Speed WiFi
Internet, and stunning views from all accommodations.
Dinner, with a Northern Italian flair, set
with family linen and silver by the fire with candlelight, and
breakfast are included in the rates. Awaken to apple French
toast or a mushroom souffle accompanied by fresh fruit,
juices, cereals, and gourmet coffee. The wine list is small
but divine.
Return form a days outing and relax with a
glass of wine on the patio in the stonewalled flower and herb
garden overlooking one of Vermont's most beautiful views or
take a quick dip in a spring fed pond. You needn't worry about
finding a restaurant; dinner hour will surprise and please
with savory pumpkin ravioli with a rosemary cream infusion or
perhaps lobster risotto after a salad of greens, gorgonzola,
and pears. Deserts include apple tart and pears baked with
Marsala and white wine, to mention a few. Ask Gretel about her
"Northern Italian Cooking Workshops".
The Pond House Inn is surrounded by ten
stone walled acres, and housed in an 1830's white cape. The
spring fed pond is surrounded by trees and fields, making it
perfect for an afternoon swim or relaxing on a float with a
good read.
The Pond House provides the getaway we all
need. To quote The Vermont Explorers Guide, "The
Pond House is a Gem." |
Gretel is an enthusiastic bike tourer and
knows the best routes in the area, which is the home of the
annual "Killington Stage Race". (Trail and mountain
bike tours are also offered.) The Pond House specializes in
bike tours for all skill levels. Ride along lakes, mountain
valleys and streams, visit the first capital of Vermont, the
world's longest double span covered bridge, the home of Saint
Gaudens and the surrounding park and gardens, or the
birthplace of Calvin Coolidge.
Winter brings skiing at Ascutney, Okemo, or
Killington all within easy reach from The Pond House. Miles of
cross-country is outside the front door. Skating on the pond
and nighttime bonfires make any winter truly welcoming.
The Green Mountain Horse Association, a New
England horse lovers' destination, is only minutes away, with
events throughout the year and box stall and turnout available
for guest's horses. |
