The dramatic setting of Bailey's Mills includes Hapgood Cemetery (pictured on first page), which has been accepting town residents since 1805. It was created by a feuding neighbor who found a unique way to irritate old Levi Bailey, thus a "Spite Cemetery."

You can hear the stream from the front porch.

Most of Bailey's Mills 49 acres sit behind the Inn and flank both sides of Bailey's Brook. There are small ponds surrounded by lawn and a cluster of clear rock pools and tiny cascades along the stream. Listen to birds and the tumbling water. Picnic atop a steep sunny hill or near the stream. Hike the bridle trails, snowmobile trails and dirt roads that network these hills. Our happiest guests are those who plan for precious time to be at rest in this beautiful valley, not merely to "see the sights."
