Strawberry Oven Toast

Ingredients

1/2 cup strawberries, sliced

1 package cream cheese

1 loaf french bread, sliced 3/4-inch thick

10 eggs

3/4 cup half & half

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 quart hulled strawberries

1/3 cup sugar

2 Tablespoons water

2 Tablespoons orange-flavored liqueur

1 Tablespoon butter

Night before, combine 1/2 cup strawberries with cream cheese. Spread thickly on 1/2 bread slices and top with other slices. Mix eggs, half & half and vanilla in a wide, shallow pan. Place sandwiches in the pan, turning once. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate over night.

Make strawberry sauce by cooking strawberries, sugar, water, and liquor for 5 minutes. Cool.

Next morning: Spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray and place sandwiches on pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or til golden brown. Serve with warmed sauce and powdered sugar. Bon Appetit!
