Briarfield at Round Top, providing bed and breakfast inn lodging with the privacy of guest house accommodations, offers the look and feel of contemporary Texas in a country setting.

Thoughtful touches everywhere provide the comforts expected by today's discerning traveler. Here is the perfect place to sit under the trees or rock in a rocking chair on the porch and enjoy the privacy rarely found in cities. Listen to the wind rustle through the large oak and pine trees. Uncluttered by the reflection of city lights, night skies allow a crystal-clear view of the stars.

Once the Giddings House, built in the mid 1800's in Giddings, Texas, the building was moved to Briarfield in 1992. The renovated tin-roofed home now has five bedrooms, each with private bath. In this one-story home, guest rooms have a private entrance that opens onto a porch or deck. Each of the rooms possesses a personality that matches its name: The Texas Room, The Garden Room, The Americana Room, The Sporting Room and the Native American Room. The hardwood floors are painted to complement the room decor. All have queen cedar post beds except The Native American Room, which has twin beds. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the inn.

The Paige House was built in 1883 in Paige, Texas, moved too Briarfield, and opened in 1998. The home features a wrap-around porch with original blue ceiling and a large deck. The bead board walls and ceilings were restored in keeping with the initial structure. There are two guest rooms with private baths and the Music Room. The Folk Art Room has an iron queen bed and The Ranch Room has a four-poster oak queen bed. Both cheerful rooms have colorful quilts and prints.

The Music Room is a large room for dining and relaxing. This room is also used for scrapbook retreats, crafting retreats, reunions, workshops, conferences and concerts. Weekend packages with meals are available.

The Basket breakfast is a delightful way to start the day. A full breakfast in a basket is delivered to each room at your requested time. You may eat in the the privacy of your room, on a porch or in the Music Room. Each room has coffee maker ensuite with a choice of coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

Round Top offers a wide variety of things to do. Visit Henkel Square with restored early Texas houses, or stroll through McAshan Herb Gardens and see the stone bridges at The Festival Institute. Be sure to pick up a concert calender for the summer (June through July) and for the "August to April" series. Drive to Winedale to visit the historic structures and get a calendar for "Shakespeare at Winedale" (late July through August). Nearby in Brenham you can visit the Blue Bell Creamery, The Poor Claire Convent miniature horse farm and the Antique Rose Emporium. A short distance away is Monument Hill/Kreische Brewery Historic State Park and Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park.
