About: Artist Daphne Stammer

My current paintings are a reflection of my passion to play with paint and brush on canvas in experiencing the miracle of creation. I am enthralled with color, its power, beauty, mystery and its possession of our visual instincts. I have applied tactile materials to the surface to attract the sense of touch. Because of the energy found in the lines and shapes, a feeling of musical sounds can be heard. I experience my great love for nature again and again through my painting. It is my inspiration and my teacher. There is an emotional and spiritual sense which I choose to paint and hope to inspire those who reflect on my painting. My gestural and spontaneous approach to painting coexists with my meticulous order in my studio. I surface the paintings with gesso and textural materials before I apply several coats of thin acrylic washes, brushed, spattered, and dribbled on the canvas.
