The subtleties
of my current residence, the Midwestern landscape, provide
information and stimulation. I am drawn to the beauty of
things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. Conditions make
impressions and patinas on objects; the imperfect, variegated
textures and forms resulting drive me to make objects. I
create painted metal wall sculptures and objects from these
inspirations; my work evokes a sense of place. I portray my
passion of working in metal through fabrication, chasing, mark
making, scratching, and removing; resulting in pieces that
provide information of the past while speaking of the present.
My objective is to cause the viewer to speculate, imagine and
to investigate, in a personal way, those issues relative to a
sense of beauty, which drives the focus of my research.
