About:
Artist Christine Patterson
B.A., Eckerd
College, 1984
Since 1991
Christine Patterson has been very active in the photography
world. She has traveled throughout the United States and
Europe producing a wide body of work, featuring architecture
to street scenes, landscapes to intimate pathways. Primarily
working in black and white and black and white infrared, her
photographic images have evolved from a signature
hand-coloring technique to a new mixed media concept of
photographs printed on marble panels. Today, she continues to
enjoy working in mixed media involving a variety of subject
matter.
"Ordinary
moments that on the surface appear quite mundane, yet whose
images are suspended and etched in our minds and preserved
forever. These dramatic and special moments in time are less
than one percent of our lives. They are fleeting like the
grains of sand falling through the narrow waist of an
hourglass. Yet even the most ordinary of moments can be a path
to finding hidden pieces of ourselves. "
"The
mystery of time is that the more we try to control it, the
more of it we lose. Time, like life, is an extraordinary gift
. . . meant to be experienced, not understood; lived and not
lost. "
