Location in the heart of Watch Hill tends to make
this small beach crowded. Gentle waves, good sand.
Bay Street, Watch Hill.
Half-mile-long barrier beach also has good swimming
on the south side. Conservation group requires
visitors to take care not to disturb beach grass and

State Beach: 7 miles of sandy, white
beach, clean, clear water with moderate surf and
undertow. There is parking for 3,000 cars. Located
on Atlantic Avenue
Shutters Town Beach: A popular family beach
located on East Beach Road off Route. 1
Sandy, clean, clear beach with moderate to heavy surf
Breachway: Sandy beach and clean, clear
water. Very popular spot for motor home camping and
shore fishing. Located off Route 1
Town Beach: Mostly sandy, clean beach.
Clean, clear, moderate to heavy surf, occasional
undertow. Off Route 1
Beach: Excellent fishing at the breachway.
Central beach has very prestigious homes. Off Route 1
Kingstown Coastal area
Beach Meadow: Clean, sandy beach with
gradual drop and usually no undertow. 855 Matunuck Beach
Matunuck State Beach: Located off Succotash
Road, off Route 1, South Kingstown. Clean and sandy with
gradual drop. Excellent for fishing from the shore.
Roy Carpenter's Beach:
A nice sandy beach with some stones. Clean surf with
varying undertow. A good family beach. Off Card's Pond
Rd. (Take Matunuck Beach Road exit off Route 1)
Kingstown Town Beach at Matunuck: Clean
beach with moderate to heavy surf. Convenient and
attractive pavilion. Matunuck Beach Road, Wakefield
Kingstown Coastal area
North Kingstown Town Beach:
Beach Street, Wickford. Narrow, shaded lawn beach with a
retaining wall and picnic tables behind it.
Pier Beach: Ocean Road (Route 1A). Because
the beach faces easterly and the open ocean is to the
southeast, long, smooth-breaking waves come rolling in
at an angle.
W. Wheeler State Beach: Clean sandy beach.
Clear, clean surf protected by a jetty with no undertow,
no rough surf and very gradual drop. Safe family beach.
Sand Hill Cover Road, off Route 108
Brine State Beach: Sandy, clean, pretty
beach. Gentle surf with breakwater shelter. No undertow,
gradual drop, near fishing port. Great for kids. Great
Island Road, Galilee
Beach: Ocean Road (Route 1A), Narragansett.
Clean, sandy beach. Moderate to heavy surf with
occasional strong undertow. Excellent for body surfing
or boarding. Large new pavilion.
