Welcome to Laurel Echo Farm in the
beautiful rolling farm lands of Somerset county amid the "Laurel
Highlands playground." Just one hour east of Pittsburgh,
this is a 100-acre working farm, raising mostly Hereford beef
cows and horses.
The 1861, renovated two-story farmhouse
accommodates two guestrooms with private bath and two smaller
single rooms perfect for children.
A full home-style breakfast is served in
the eat-in "country kitchen." Week-long guests have
access to a fully equipped private kitchen and studio and are
welcome to relax on the front porch swing or the patio out
back. Laurel Echo Farm is "child friendly," offering
pony rides upon request, hiking over the farm, and a big yard
where the children love to play with the new kittens.
Laurel Echo has many recreational
activities within minutes, including Laurel Hill and Kooser
State Parks as well as Ohiopyle; and famous Seven Springs and
Hidden Valley Ski Resorts. They offer swimming, golf, boating,
fishing, white water rafting, horseback riding, sleigh rides
and hiking and biking trails. The Farm is also only five miles
from the Allegheny Hiking and Biking Trails (Rails to Trails).
Dinning opportunities include a nearby country restaurant or
fine dining at the famous Oakhurst Tea Room or Laurel Mountain
Inn.
Nearby Somerset offers outlet mall shopping
(Gregorian Place), a craft village (Pine Haven), plus many
antique shops.
In the evening, wonderful company is
offered for the entire family. There is something for just
about everyone at Laurel Echo Farm Bed and Breakfast. Come "get
away from it all" at this country farm and enjoy a
quieter way of life your grandparents knew, and relax on the
front porch swing. |
"Be not forgetful
to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels
unawares." Heb. 13:2
In the vicinity of Laurel Echo you will
find Idlewild, the nations oldest family amusement park
located in Ligonier and Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural
materpieces, Falling Water and Kentuck Knob. The Johnstown
Heritage Center and Johnstown Flood Museum can be found in
nearby Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Local festivals include the Mt. Craft Days
at the Somerset Historical Center and the Farmer and
Threshersmens Jubilee in New Centerville, both in September,
followed by the Springs Festival during fall foliage days in
early October. This is amid the Amish settlement with homemade
quilts for sale and display. In the spring, there is the
Meyersdale Maple Festival at "sugarin' off time."
