Craftsmen and artisans of German and Italian decent created the manor as a unique stone chateau, using the natural lumber and fieldstones of Huckleberry Mountain. The French Manor's imported Spanish slate roof, "pecky" cypress interior and great hall, Romanesque arched entry way, and massive stone fireplaces attest to the artisans' mastery.

Inn rooms and suites have been custom designed to embrace the old-world charm of the chateau while improving on its elegance with lavish furnishings and amenities. Emphasizing the privacy and luxury such as you would find in a grand hotel, the chambers still maintain the intimate atmosphere of a country inn. There are many lodgings from which to choose: four guestrooms and a suite in the main manor building, two fireplace and Jacuzzi suites plus two guestrooms in the Carriage House, and six new fireplace and Jacuzzi suites with private wrought-iron balconies in the La Maisonneuve building. Each accommodation also includes cable television, telephone with modem jack, comfortable sitting/reading area, clock radio, bathrobes, hair dryer, and a private bath.

The elegant dining room at The French Manor offers guests an intimate culinary experience. Dine near the terrace for a wonderful view of the Pocono Mountains or near one of the two massive fireplaces. In pleasant weather, enjoy breakfast on the stone veranda with a picturesque view of the mountains. The gourmet dinner menu features both Classical and Nouvelle French cuisine. Candlelight dining, culinary expertise, and the pampering staff make each meal a memorable dining experience.

Activities abound at The French Manor. On the inn's own grounds, there are miles of trails for hiking, biking, picnicking, and snow snoeing. As a guest of the French Manor, you are also welcome to enjoy any of the recreational facilities offered at The Sterling Inn, just over a mile away with 103 acres of landscaped lawns and gardens, woodlands and streams, indoor pool and spa, tennis, volleyball, massage therapy, and weekend entertainment. Massage therapy is also available by appointment.

The surrounding countryside offers many scenic and recreational opportunities as well, including Lake Wallenpaupack, canoeing, boating, water skiing, fishing, championship golf courses, night clubs, horseback riding, theatres, and a summer playhouse.

The Poconos provide fabulous opportunities for cross-country and downhill skiing in season, and pleasant rural drives, scenic train excursions, coal mines tours, and antique and outlet shopping make ideal excursions throughout the year.
