Just one hour from Toronto on the south shore of
beautiful Lake Simcoe, The Briars is a lakeside heritage
resort offering traditional country inn hospitality as
well as extensive facilities and services, including an
18-hole golf course and spa. |
|
Here you will find a refuge among acres of lush lawns,
gardens, towering trees, and cedar hedges. The surrounding
forests, fields, and streams are home to a variety of
wildlife. |

Recreation...
The Briars offers countless recreational options.
Spend some time in the exercise suite and game rooms, then
relax in the solarium pool, whirlpool, and sauna. Of
course, Lake Simcoe provides a wealth of water activity
all year, ranging from paddle boating, canoeing, and
kayaking in warm weather to ice skating in the cold of
winter. Nearby ice fishing is available at an additional
charge, as are warm-weather cruises. And no matter the
weather, there is a 50-acre nature reserve, wonderful
gardens, woods, and fields to explore.
Dining...
The dining room at The Briars serves three
scrumptious meals daily throughout the year. A table
d'hote menu, including appetizers, entree, and dessert, is
offered for lunch and dinner. The menus change daily, and
meals are prepared with seasonal produce and herbs from
the on-site garden. The adjacent lounge, Drinkwaters,
serves snacks and light meals (not included in packages)
from 11:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. daily. In the summer, the
Summer Dining Room offers a breakfast and lunch
buffet, and on Wednesdays you may join fellow guests for a
barbecue in the Inn's Fountain Court Patio. A
dinner-dance is held on Saturdays all year long.

Summer
fun... Summer is the time for resort living at The
Briars. From late June to early September, the Inn offers
adult and family programs to all guests -- a time for fun and
a great way to meet people. Have fun in the "active"
pool, or relax at the "quiet" pool. Activities such
as bocce, volleyball, putting contests, kayak safaris, bicycle
tours, and more are part of the weekly program. Historical
tours and garden tours are held often. Evening activities
include movies, bingo, a welcome reception, campfires, and
more. Children's programs provide fun for the kids and
relaxation time for parents.
Winter
wonderland... In the winter, there is also much to
do...or not, if you prefer. Mid-week days are quiet, a great
time to escape. Weekends are active, but cozy corners await
for a quiet retreat. On Winter Magic Weekends, guided walks,
glühwein, a fun and informative ski clinic, snowshoeing,
and horse-drawn sleigh ride promise special memories.
Golf /
Spa... The original nine-hole course was designed by
Stanley Thompson, Canada's premier golf course architect, in
1922. In 1971, the course was changed to an 18-hole, par-71
challenge. With a well-stocked pro shop offering a variety of
lessons and skill improvement drills, The Briars is considered
one of the finest golf resorts in Canada. After a round of
golf, take advantage of the wide variety spa treatments
designed to balance mind, body, and soul. |
