Nestled in Western New York's Niagara County, The Asa Ransom Bed and Breakfast is located in the charming town of Clarence just minutes from Niagara Falls.

In 1799, the Holland Land Company offered lots ten miles apart in what is now Clarence, to "any proper man who would build and operate a tavern upon it." The first to accept this offer was a young silversmith by the name of Asa Ransom, who had been plying his trade in the little fur trading post on the shores of Lake Erie. In the hollow of the ledge near a pine grove, Mr. Ransom built a combination log cabin home and tavern. A sawmill, grist mill, library, gift shop, tap room and dining rooms were added later.

The charm of the past and the convenience of the present have been brought together in the Inn's picturesque rooms. Each of the nine bedrooms is furnished with antiques and period reproductions, a private bath, hideaway television and air-conditioning. Seven of the bedrooms have fireplaces.

Clarence abounds with antique shops, many within walking distance of the Inn. The Town Park, just a few steps away, offers shaded lawns, a duck pond, and outdoor summer twilight concerts. Here, tennis and swimming are also available to guests. A short drive to Buffalo provides many cultural opportunities . . . The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and pops concerts, continuing exhibits at the Albright Knox Gallery, and Studio Arena. Nearby are the Lancaster Opera House and the Amhearst Old Colony Museum.

Fine Country Dining.... A full country breakfast is served each morning at the Asa Ransom Bed and Breakfast. Country dinners are also served in one of the Inn's dining rooms.

An open dinner menu is offered on Tuesday - Sunday. The menu reflects a real New York farmland feeling with such items as Country veal, raspberry chicken, smoked corned beef with apple raisin sauce, fresh fish, shepherd's pie, and many more. Soup is served from the kettle, and the Inn's homemade breads, muffins, and fresh vegetables compliment each dinner.

A cheery fire warms you in the winter, and the many windows overlooking the garden and lawn charm you in the summer. Many of the herbs used in the kitchen are grown in the Inn's herb and flower garden.
