The Wilderness Inn is snuggled within the White
Mountain National Forest, five miles south of Franconia
Notch State Park in the quaint New England town of North
Woodstock, New Hampshire. Built in 1912 as a lumbermill
owner's home, the bed and breakfast inn still has a "country
house" atmosphere that welcomes guests to this "neck-of-the-woods". |

All seven bedrooms and suites, each with private bath,
as well as the "honeymoon" cottage overlooking
Lost River, are individually decorated and feature
photographs and articles of a foreign country. Each
lodging accommodation has individually controlled heat and
cable television, and the five second-floor rooms are
centrally air conditioned in summer. The Inn's living room
has a large working fireplace, the perfect place to savor
a glass of hot, mulled cider after a day of skiing.
A delicious and generous gourmet breakfast from an
extensive menu is served each morning. In the summer,
enjoy your morning repast on the enclosed sun porch. Start
with fruit juice, homebaked muffins, fresh fruit salad,
and your choice of teas or the Inn's own blend of French
Roast and Colombian coffee freshly ground each morning.
Your morning meal may also include pancakes, crêpes,
French toast, omelets, or eggs. Tea, coffee, hot
chocolate, and lemonade or cider (in season) are available
in the afternoon. |

There is something to do each season at the Wilderness Inn.
In the fall months, foliage is ablaze and vibrant with
magenta, gold, and violet. When the snow falls, both downhill
and cross-country skiing are nearby. Local ski areas include
Loon Mountain, Cannon Mountain, Waterville Valley, Bretton
Woods, and Tenney Mountain. Alternatives to non-skiers include
a horse-drawn sleigh ride, day and night tubing, ice skating,
snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
As the snow melts, stroll through the woods; experience
indoor or outdoor rock climbing, white water kayaking, or
mountain biking. When the temperatures rise, the time has come
to splash into refreshing rivers and bask in the warm
sunshine. You can canoe, swim, bike ride, play golf, hike,
picnic, or visit the many local attractions, including the
Lost River Caves, Polar Caves, Clark's Trading Post, The Flume
Gorge, and the Mount Washington Cog Railway. The possibilities
are endless! |
