Set among Crepe Myrtles, Azaleas, Black-eyed Susans, and Hydrangea in the historic district of Wilmington, North Carolina, the Graystone Inn is steeped in Southern tradition and grandeur. The spacious, sun-lit parlor and sitting room feature comfortable overstuffed sofas, chairs, and period antiques. A music room adjoins the parlor area and boasts a baby grand piano, which is maintained in concert condition. In the dining room, an 18-foot long mahogany dining table is where guests gather for a delightful breakfast. Perhaps the most extraordinary room on the ground floor is the mahogany-paneled library. Here, guests are invited to enjoy over 1,000 books as well as a relaxing evening cordial or glass of wine.

From the grand entrance hall, a Renaissance staircase guides the traveler up to the second and third floors. Each of the luxurious suites -- the Bellevue with 1,300 square feet, and the Latimer/St. Thomas with 975 square feet -- offers a king-sized bed. The five remaining rooms are so generous in size as to be compared to suites in some hotels. All accommodations are beautifully furnished with period antiques, comfortable sitting areas, and absolutely wonderful bathrooms, most featuring ball- and claw-foot tubs/with shower and genuine brass fittings.

A great surprise comes in the third-floor ballroom. Rich and Marcia can easily transform the 2,500 square foot open space, still beautifully appointed with a fireplaced sitting area, into a conference and meeting room.

Conference necessities, such as TV/VCR units, PC data port accessibility, slide projector, and flip charts, are a few of the state-of-the-art conveniences available. And, yes, you can still have a ball, holiday gala, private party, or most anything that suits your fancy in the grand Southern style.

The Graystone Inn is a perfect gathering place for weddings, receptions, and rehearsal dinners. The Inn has also been used as a set for motion pictures and television and lists many notable personalities among its guests.
