Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and
recipient of the AAA Four Diamond Award, Albemarle Inn is set
in a quiet, park-like setting in the historic Grove Park
district just minutes from famed Biltmore Estate in Asheville,
North Carolina.
This elegant 1907 Greek Revival mansion charms guests with
its gardens, exquisite woodwork, and antiques and has been
featured in the March 2001 issue of National Geographic
Traveler. The Inn is the only bed and breakfast in
Asheville that is a member of Select Registry, Distinguished
Inns of North America, making it a great hotel alternative.
Albemarle Inn's social areas are graced with large spacious
rooms with high ceilings, large windows, oak paneling, and
crown molding. The first-floor parlor features a fireplace
with comfortable seating area, turn-of-the-century baby grand
piano, and carved oak stairway with unique circular landing
and balcony. The second-floor parlor is a haven for
conversation and games.
The eleven exceptionally spacious guest rooms each has a
private bath with clawfoot tub and shower, cable television,
computer-compatible telephone, and individually controlled air
conditioning and heating. Each lodging accommodation is
elegantly and comfortably decorated with period furniture and
European linens. Rooms with fireplaces and two-person
whirlpool tubs are available.
The flicker of candlelight and soft music welcome guests to
a gourmet breakfast served on the bright enclosed sunporch,
filled with wicker furniture and plants, or in front of the
fireplace in the dining room, which features period
upholstered chairs and dining tables as well as an antique
Persian rug.

Guests' favorite breakfast items include Eggs Albemarle
(scrambled eggs with zucchini, dill, and feta cheese) with
shaved ham and coffee cake, stuffed French toast (with a
delicate cream cheese and ricotta stuffing topped with an
orange sauce) and sausage, sour cream blueberry muffins, lemon
verbena crepes with a fresh cherry sauce, and apple cheddar
quiche.
After exploring downtown Asheville, Biltmore Estate and the
Blue Ridge region, return to the Inn for refreshments. In the
summer, typical offerings include Cathy's fruited vanilla iced
tea with fresh tomato and basil bruschetta, onion and mushroom
tartlets, mini fruit tarts, and lime tea cakes with lime glaze
served on the front veranda overlooking the landscaped
gardens.
In the winter, you might enjoy warm mulled cider accompanied
by a selection of cheese and crackers in the comfort of the
main parlor surrounded by the warmth of the fire. |
