The Boone's Lick Trail Inn provides bed and breakfast lodging in the heart of the National Register Historic District in St. Charles, Missouri. The Inn is just 25 minutes west of downtown St. Louis and within walking distance of over 100 specialty shops and some 20 restaurants.

This Federal-style building, historically known as the Carter-Rice building, has stood on the Boone's Lick Trail since 1840. This old Indian trail was blazed to serve Daniel Boone's sons in their salt manufacturing works in 1804. Soon thereafter, the Boone's Lick Trail became the settlers' route from St. Charles to the Santa Fe, Oregon, and California trails.

The Boone's Lick Trail Inn houses six guest rooms, each with a private bath and one with a dry-heat sauna. Also available is a three-room cottage suite complete with sit-down shower, whirlpool tub, king-size four-poster bed, sitting room, and DVD player. All accommodations have central air and are finely appointed with antiques and flowers from the Inn's gardens. Other standard amenities include television, telephones, and ceiling fans.

The inns' delightful breakfast consists of the freshest fruits, juices, pastries, breads, and homemade jams and jellies. Breakfast entrees vary from day to day, with one of their most popular being cheese-stuffed French toast with strawberry sauce. Breakfast is usually served in the formal dining room or one of the sitting rooms that adjoin it, but guests can request that it be served to them either outdoors or in the privacy of their room.

For dinner and lunch, you'll find plenty of dining variety on Main Street, or you can venture into nearby St. Louis. In between meals, you can take advantage of the KATY hiking and biking trail.

Other recreational options include fishing, golf, canoeing, horseback riding, and sailing. Your host, Paul Mydler, is an avid hunter who will be happy to give you the inside scoop on Missouri's seasonal duck hunting. Museums, casinos, and the Goldenrod Showboat Theatre are also nearby. Best of all, there are horse-drawn carriages to take you to all of Main Street's fabulous attractions.
