Saugatuck Bed and
Breakfast Lodging --- Great Lake Michigan Vacation Getaway
Surrounded by woods, this lovely
Victorian-style home with its wrap-around porch offers serene
relaxation in an ideal setting. Its hardwood floors,
leaded-glass windows, and an oak-paneled staircase all add to
the sophisticated charm of Sherwood Forest. Not surprisingly,
Sherwood Forest is AAA, Mobil, and Lake to Lake Bed and
Breakfast Association inspected and approved.
Each spacious guest room is complete with
antiques and traditional furniture, cozy wing chairs, and
Oriental rugs. Queen-size beds, private baths, and air
conditioning add twentieth-century enhancements. Two suites
are available. The first reproduces the serenity of the north
woods as a replica of the inside of a log cabin. It includes a
stone-mantle gas fireplace which can be viewed from either the
two-person Jacuzzi tub or the comfort of the bedroom. The
second suite features the same amenities but is decorated in
the flair of the late nineteenth century. Another room boasts
a hand-painted mural that transforms it into a canopied loft
high in the tree tops. This room is complemented by an
oak-mantle fireplace. In every detail it is clear that care
has been taken to provide an environment ideal for unwinding
and relaxing.
A separate cottage with fireplace is also
available for intimate, group, or family getaways. It has two
bedrooms, one-and-a-half baths, living room, air conditioning,
full kitchen, and a deck.
Wake up each morning to a delectable
breakfast served in the lace-curtained dining room or on the
impressive wrap-around porch. Breakfast favorites include
lemon yogurt bread, blueberry muffins, sour cream coffee cake,
or potato quiche accompanied by fresh fruit, juice, and
gourmet coffee or tea. Or for a scrumptious in-house catered
dining experience, try the "Famous Chefs of Saugatuck"
dinner packages, available at Sherwood Forest November through
April. |
On the premises, you can luxuriate in the
heated swimming pool beautified with a mural of a sunken Greek
ship. The secluded feel of the surrounding woods provides a
tranquil spot for taking a dip or lounging on the patio. The
eastern shore of Lake Michigan and the Douglas Public Beach
are one-half block away, while Saugatuck's Oval Beach and
marinas are just minutes away. The area's wide, white sandy
beaches are the perfect place for strolling, swimming, or
watching spectacular sunsets.
Sherwood Forest offers bicycles to explore
the scenic lake shore or to go for a short ride into charming
Saugatuck. In the winter, nearby parks and trails are
available for cross-country skiing or hiking. Saugatuck, just
two miles away, offers many shopping and fine dining
opportunities. Local attractions include art galleries,
antique and gift shops, restaurants, public golf courses,
state parks, boat charters and tours, summer theater, sailing,
and canoeing. |
