Mira Monte Inn is a Victorian bed and breakfast on two acres
of award-winning landscaped estate grounds in the heart of Bar
Harbor, Maine on Mount Desert Island. Built for the exclusive
summer colony visitors of the mid-1800's, the Inn was named
Mira Monte ("behold the mountains") for the
beautiful surrounding peaks of Acadia National Park. 
Always an elegant summer retreat, Mira Monte lodging is
graced by large bay windows, private balconies, and a
beautiful wrap-around front porch.
A love of style and beauty is evidenced by the estate
grounds -- paved terraces, sweeping lawns, private informal
spaces, and formal gardens. Inside, pleasant common rooms
include the parlor and the library, where many guests may
relax by a glowing fire. The library also has an excellent
piano that guests are encouraged to play.
All guestrooms have private baths, queen- or king-sized
beds, air conditioning, individually controlled heat,
television, private telephones with answering machines, data
ports, and clock radios. Accommodations feature antiques and
period furnishings accented by lace curtains and wallpaper,
helping to recreate the magic of yesteryear. Additional
amenities in some rooms include whirlpool tubs, fireplaces,
and private balconies and porches. Each of the luxury two-room
suites has a parlor, fireplace, bedroom with canopied bed,
double whirlpool bath/shower, kitchenette, and a private deck
overlooking a garden.
Explore Bar Harbor's finest shops, restaurants, and
waterfront, all within a five-minute walk of Mira Monte. Drive
five minutes to Acadia National Park, a 33,000-acre wonderland
of mountains, seashore, lakes, meadows, and forest. Travel
through the Park by car or choose from 100 miles of 60
different hiking trails. Walk or mountain bike on the 55 miles
of 16-foot-wide carriage roads. You can also enjoy canoeing,
sea kayaking, golf, whale watching, bird watching, sightseeing
cruises, lobstering tours, and more.
Your innkeeper and hostess, Marian Burns, was born and
raised in Bar Harbor. She can advise you on where the locals
like to eat, where to eat fresh lobster, and which hiking
trail to take based on time of year, weather conditions, and
your ability. Marian trains her staff well, ensuring
additional reliable resources of excellent knowledge and a
better chance of enriching your vacation time. This gracious

A complimentary full breakfast buffet is elegantly
displayed on the 1810 Federal buffet every morning from
8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Choose from freshly baked blueberry muffins, breakfast
breads, waffles, hot and cold cereals, eggs, juices, and
fresh fruit, served with hot coffee or tea.
You may dine family-style in the dining room, or take a
tray to a terrace, porch, or the gardens.
Complimentary refreshments are offered daily from 5:00
to 7:00 p.m. in the parlor, where you have the opportunity
to peruse menus from selected local restaurants, talk with
a friendly staff member, share the day's adventures with
other guests, or take a tray to a private spot. |
