LimeRock Inn is tucked away on a quiet street in Rocklands
Historic District yet steps away from the world-class
Farnsworth Museum, fine dining, European-style shopping, and
what Down East magazine referred to as
"mid-coast Maine's most beautiful
ocean walk."
Encircled by a wraparound porch and landscaped gardens, this
beautiful turreted Victorian mansion is an exquisite example
of Queen Anne architecture and reminiscent of the gracious
lifestyle of a bygone era.
From the sidewalk, the wicker furnished wraparound porch
invites you to relax. Once inside, warm colors of the foyer
welcome you. Enjoy a quite conversation on the porch or in the
formal parlor or relax by the fireplace in the living room
with a book from the library. An antique inspired oak cabinet
in the living room contains a color television with DVD player
and cable
Beyond the foyer are eight, well-appointed, luxurious guest
accommodations decorated to create an environment of
comfortable elegance. Architectural details and period
furnishings evoke charm and character that enhance the overall
feeling of comfort and hospitality. The two guest rooms offer
king beds, and the remaining six accommodations are furnished
with queen beds, each with sumptuous bedding. Each guest room
boasts an opulent private bath, (some with whirlpool tubs),
all appointed with Egyptian cotton linens, hair dryer, cotton
jar, rejuvenating soap, bath oils and shampoo.
Breakfast at the LimeRock Inn is a culinary experience. Your
hosts, Frank and PJ, have a simple outlook on food and fine
dining. They believe that only two kinds of people exist in
the world
those who eat to live and those
who live to eat. Being lifetime members of the
later group, they believe that the right setting is the best
accompaniment for good food. Seasonal fruit, homemade breads,
regional fruit jams, special entrees and, of course, plenty of
freshly brewed coffee using a special blend from the locally
owned Rock City Roasters are standard fare. A generous
selection of black and herbal teas are offered if tea is your
cup. |

The Inn is located a block from the Knox County Courthouse
and other downtown businesses making it an ideal alternative
to traditional lodging.
Rockland, Maine is the geographic center of the mid-coast
region, which makes for easy day-tripping to LL Bean in
Freeport, Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, and every town
in between. All along mid-coast Maine you'll discover seaside
resorts, charming villages, glacier-carved peninsulas, and
grand panoramas of the Penobscot Bay and Atlantic Ocean.
Rockland is also the Lobster capital of Downeast Maine, so
seaside activities and seaside dining are popular pursuits.
The town throws a lobster festival every year, as well as the
North Atlantic Blues Festival and the Wooden Boat
Show/Atlantic Challenge. |
