For over a century, people have enjoyed the Old Fort Inn Bed
and Breakfast, a lovely New England country retreat hidden
away on 15 wooded and landscaped acres in a secluded setting
of old summer estates in Kennebunkport, Maine.

With the Inn just a block from the rocky shore's
crashing surf, it may be hard to believe that the
boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants of bustling Dock
Square are less than a mile away. |
The Lodge is a quiet oasis located in a circa 1880 converted
barn, carefully decorated with country antiques which
complement the exposed beams, weathered pine wall boards, and
massive brick fireplace. Large French doors open to the pool
and patio area, making this a cheerful and relaxing place for
friendly conversation.
The 16 exquisite lodging accommodations are located in a
turn-of-the-century carriage house of red brick and local
stone. Period antiques, four-poster and canopied beds with
down-filled comforters, fine fabrics, and beautiful wall
coverings add to the peaceful, elegant atmosphere. All rooms
and suites feature private baths, telephones, air
conditioning, cable television, and enclosed deluxe honor bars
as well as robes, thick towels, hairdryers, and irons. Some
rooms offer gas fireplaces, heated tile bathroom floors, and
Jacuzzi baths. There are cookies and Belgian chocolates in
every room to welcome arriving guests, and a beverage and
treats are served every afternoon.
A full, lavish buffet breakfast is served daily. Feast on
fresh fruit, homemade breads, quiche, croissants, cereal, and
a different entree daily. This repast is complemented by
juices, coffees, and assorted teas. Many guests find that
breakfast provides the opportunity to make new friends and
exchange information on local places to explore. |
Of course, exploring local places means that you will have
to leave the quiet oasis that is the Old Fort Inn, which may
prove difficult. With its heated pool, private tennis court,
and antique shop, the Inn is the ideal atmosphere in which to
unwind and relax.
The village of Kennebunkport offers visitors a wealth of
activities to enjoy. Stroll miles of sand beaches, take a
quiet walk along the rugged coast, wander the many country
roads, or play golf at one of two 18-hole courses within five
minutes of the Inn. Sailing and deep-sea fishing are available
to those whom the sea beckons, while those more comfortable on
terra firma can discover the area's many antique shops and art
galleries. |
