Just five miles from Augusta in the Kennebec Valley of
Maine, Maple Hill Farm Bed & Breakfast Inn and Conference
Center gives guests a quiet alternative to local motels for a
relaxing getaway, business travel, or that special occasion.
Located in Hallowell on 130 acres of rolling fields and woods
with winding walking trails and a small pond, the Inn offers
all the charm of a country farm with the comforts and
amenities of a first-class hotel.
The late Victorian house, built in 1906, is on land that was
cleared and settled in the late 1700's. Maple Hill Farm once
served as a halfway stop for watering horses for a stagecoach
line that ran between Hallowell and Emery's Grove on
Cobbosseecontee Lake. Renovations completed in 2001 honor this
history while bringing the Inn up to modern lodging standards.
Today, eight spacious guests rooms with private baths are
furnished with antiques and relaxing country furniture.
Standard amenities include tranquil views of the fields or
woods, individual heat and air-conditioning controls, full
closets, color televisions, cable, VCRs, private phones with
dataports, wireless high speed Internet access, irons, and
hair dryers. Four rooms also boast two-person whirlpool tubs,
five have gas fireplaces, and three have private decks.
Sit down each morning to fresh linen tablecloths and order a
cooked-to-order hearty country breakfast from the menu, which
include Eggs Benedict Arnold made from the Inn's own
farm-fresh free-range eggs as well as Wild Maine Blueberry
Pancakes with pure maple syrup. Freshly baked muffins, fresh
fruit, and just-ground coffee are offered. Enjoy this
delicious and relaxed meal in the intimate fireplaced dining
room, expansive art gallery, or courtyard. Maple Hill Farm
also offers full liquor service plus complimentary coffee,
tea, and home-baked goodies available anytime in the guest
kitchen, which includes a refrigerator, microwave, ice
machine, and sink.
Maple Hill Farm's central Maine location is famed for its
four-season recreational opportunities. There is plenty to
explore on the farm's 130 acres of wildflower hayfields and
woods with inviting trails and spring-fed swimming pond. Go
cross-country skiing or hiking, have a picnic, play horseshoes
or croquet, visit the farm animals, or just sit by the
fireplace or on the front porch sipping sun tea or a Maine
microbrew beer.
The farm is adjacent to a state wildlife preserve with over
800 acres, including more trails and a large, pristine pond
for canoeing, fishing, and swimming. The larger Cobbossee
Lake, antique shops, and excellent restaurants, as well as
shopping and museums in Augusta, are just five minutes away.
