Inn is one of Western Maryland's finest bed and breakfast
inns. |

Guests here
enjoy elegant award-winning interiors, sweeping views of
the lake and mountains, and a refreshingly cool climate.
Here, in the unspoiled country of Garrett County, visitors
can get away from the hustle and bustle of sprawling city
life and appreciate the simple pleasures of the great
outdoors.
The Inn -- the
oldest house on Deep Creek Lake -- dates back to the late
1800's, but underwent extensive restoration in the summer
and fall of 1995 and an addition in the fall of 2001,
making for all the comforts of a fine lodge. Each room has
individually controlled heat, telephones with private
numbers, private baths, down comforters, and down pillows.
There are ten guest rooms at the Inn, each named for
Revolutionary War heroes and Garrett County settlers. Six
rooms also have spa tubs and fireplaces. Additional
amenities in some lodging accommodations also include
steam showers and balconies.
Lake Pointe Inn
is air-conditioned throughout and decorated tastefully in
the tradition of the Arts & Crafts style. You can laze
by the incredible stone fireplace in the Great Room or
read in front of one of the large windows offering lovely
views. Take the time to admire the mission-style
furnishings and pottery. Or simply rock yourself to sleep
in one of the chairs on the wraparound front porch
overlooking the lake. Small meetings (up to 20 persons)
can be accommodated in the Inn's conference room.
A generous
breakfast is served each morning, featuring hot entrees.
Dinner is offered at additional cost on holiday weekends.
Deep Creek Lake
lies in the center of Garrett County, comprising the
outermost portion of Maryland's Western Panhandle. The
lake's 65 miles of spectacular shoreline adjoin many
attractions, both natural and man-made, all of which are
well worth being explored. A variety of water activities
abound here, including fishing, swimming, sailing, and
water-skiing. The Wisp Ski Mountain/Golf Course offers
some of the best skiing and golf in the Mid-Atlantic
region. Other popular activities around Garrett County
include white water boating on the Youghiogheny River,
scuba diving in the lake, snowmobiling, snowboarding,
snowtubing, hunting, horseback riding, biking, camping,
and canoeing. |
|
Along with your food
and lodging at the Lake Pointe Inn, you will also have access
to bicycles, canoes and kayaks, a tennis court, and a swimming
and boating dock. Finally, it is worth noting that Deep Creek
Lake has the desirable -- although inexplicable --
characteristic of being almost completely free of mosquitoes,
gnats, and other biting pests.
The tallest
waterfall in the state, Muddy Creek Falls, roars nearby in
Swallow Falls State Park, a favorite campsite of Henry Ford,
Thomas Edison, and Harvey Firestone during the early 1920's.
Backbone Mountain lies a little farther to the south, as the
tallest point in the state of Maryland and a marker for the
Eastern Continental Divide. Along the Maryland/West Virginia
state line is the Cranesville Sub-Arctic Swamp, a strange
boreal remnant of the last Ice Age and the only known such bog
in North America growing outside an arctic region, displaying
many rare flora and fauna. And just a short drive to the
north, in Pennsylvania, are Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Falling
Water and Kentuck Knob, architectural landmarks.
Delight in the
splendors of Garrett County and its many natural wonders.
Enjoy the wonderful food and other comforts. And make your
plans to return again and again to the Lake Pointe Inn on Deep
Creek Lake. |
