The Knoll Bed and Breakfast, a spacious 12-room home of
Country Tudor design, was built in 1910 on a knoll next to a
small river in the area of Massachusetts known as the Five
College / Pioneer Valley.
Seventeen acres of surrounding farmland and forest provide a
sense of pastoral peace. The home is located in the Florence
residential section of Northampton in the Five Colleges Region
of Western Massachusetts.
The old home's turn-of-the-century character is defined by
hardwood floors, beautiful Oriental rugs, and a majestic open
staircase leading to the four bright and airy guest rooms
upstairs. A large living room and adjoining library offer
guests a place to relax downstairs. The living room is
appointed with a fireplace and cable television, and the
library offers several comfortable nooks for those who like to
get lost in a good book.
Guest accommodations consist of four rooms. One guest room
has twin beds, two rooms have queen beds, and one room has a
double bed. When all four rooms are occupied, guests share two
baths -- one with a large cast-iron tub and another with a
claw-footed tub and add-on shower. All four rooms have ample
closet space, and during the summer, guests enjoy New
England-fresh, sun-dried bed linens.
Breakfast is served daily in The Knoll's formal dining room.
Morning fare includes cereal, eggs, bacon, toast, homemade
muffins, and pancakes served with locally produced maple
syrup. Juice, coffee, and tea complement the meal, as does a
serving in season of fresh fruit from the on-site garden. Many
guests are particularly fond of The Knoll's homemade
strawberry jam.
After breakfast, you can take a stroll across the
beautifully landscaped grounds of Look Park, which is within
walking distance of the bed and breakfast. In addition to its
myriad walking and jogging paths, the park boasts a miniature
golf course, picnic grounds, playgrounds, and tennis courts.

ideal for prospective students or visiting families. Smith
College, Amherst College, University of Massachusetts, Mt.
Holyoke College, and Hampshire College are all within minutes
of the Inn.
Bradley Field, an airport in the Hartford-Springfield area,
is just an hour to the south, and Logan Airport in Boston is
only two hours away. For those flying into Kennedy or La
Guardia in New York City, a scenic three-hour New England
drive will bring you to The Knoll.
For a fun-filled day, you may want to plan a trip to the
nearby Six Flags amusement park. Historic Deerfield, only
twelve miles away, also makes for an interesting side trip.
