High Pocket Farm, offering bed and
breakfast lodging in picturesque Colrain, in the Berkshires of
Massachusetts, is nestled on a knoll on the end of a secluded
dirt road.
The New England farmhouse is 160 years old
with a new four-stall timber frame barn, a separate game room,
and a hot tub on 545 acres. If your idea of the perfect
vacation includes your equine friend, High Pocket is the place
for you!
Three guest accommodations, appointed with
comfortable furnishings and private bathrooms, are available
to inn guests. For guests' horses, each barn stall includes
shavings and use of the electric fenced pasture. If you didn't
bring your equine friend, horses are available for rent to
lodging guests.
For down time, welcoming living and dining
areas are always available for chatting or watching a movie,
and the convenient kitchen lets guests prepare their own lunch
and dinner if they'd like. The rec room has a ping pong table,
puzzle, and games, and a large mud room stores all your tack
and sporting gear. Evenings beg you to relax in the hot tub
with majestic views around you and millions of stars above.
There are also plenty of things to do when
you want to take it a bit easier. The stores, golf courses,
and ski areas of Wilmington, Vermont, and Mount Snow are not
far away from High Pocket. In nearby Shelburne Falls and
historic Deerfield, you can visit quaint shops, go antiquing,
and browse the local farm stands in season. Mass MoCA (Museum
of Contemporary Art) in North Adams, Clark Art Institute in
Williamstown, and the Five College towns of Northampton and
Amherst are just a short, scenic drive away. Many fine
restaurants with a variety of dining options are within 20
miles of the farm, as are live theater and movies. High Pocket
Bed and Breakfast and Barn has it all -- country leisure just
a stone's throw away from urban sophistication. |
Each morning, a sumptuous country breakfast
is served fresh at 8:00 a.m. Enjoy such breakfast favorites as
blueberry pancakes, omelets, and fresh-from-the-oven baked
goods. This hearty breakfast will prepare you for y some
horseback riding as well as adventures in and around the
Colrain area.
With or without your horse, the area has
plenty to interest you. Private trails can be ridden, hiked,
biked, and skied. You'll pass beaver ponds and enter lush
forests and open meadows, perhaps catching a glimpse of the
local wildlife. Aside from the daily two-hour guided trail
ride, overnight, inn to inn, and picnic rides can also be
arranged. Four-season activities include fishing, swimming,
hiking, biking, golf, canoeing, rafting, and alpine and
cross-country skiing. |
