Village Inn and Pub is an enchanting 1930's style Bed and
Breakfast Inn located on historic St. Simon's Island, Georgia.
With a deep respect for the natural beauty of the ancient live
oak trees, magnolias and palms for which the island is known,
developer and owner, George Stewart, carefully preserved every
limb and root system while designing this unique inn using the
style and facade of its original 1930 beach cottage. Says Mr.
Stewart, Every room has a different layout, because we
had to redesign when we stumbled upon a tree root we had to
dodge. Coastal Living Magazine awarded the inn
the 2003 Design Award and RUPA, the St. Simon's Island
Environmentalist Group, awarded it the first time ever, "Good
Developer Award" for "saving and utilizing an
historic building and conscientious ecological and community
design ..."
Each of the twenty-eight guest accommodations is uniquely
designed with historical elegance in soothing color schemes of
sage, creme, gold or beige. Generous windows provide a light
ambience amid the majestic trees and most guest rooms have a
quaint balcony with a view of the pool and courtyard or of the
historical village. Guest comfort is assured with amenities
that include private bath, custom built armoires that house a
27 inch TV, handsome desk with work space, high-speed wireless
Internet, iron and ironing board, hair dryers and soft, cozy
robes for luxurious lounging. Choose from two double beds, a
luxurious king or a spacious queen bed to suit your travel
needs. If you like a little more room and privacy, Village Inn
also offers vacation rentals on the island.
A delicious, deluxe continental breakfast is served in the
sun room of the pub each morning.
St. Simons Island beaches are within walking distance and
you can walk, bike, fly fish, sunbathe or jog starting at the
pier and all the way down to the old Georgia Coast Guard
station and beyond. Bicycle and kayak rentals are abundant to
provide an up-close look at the marshlands and wildlife in its
natural habitat. |
Southern Living Magazine's travel writer, Annette
Thompson, had this to say about the inn, "I had heard
many folks buzz about the environmental awards the inn has
garnered, yet when I arrive, it's the property's beauty and
grace that captivate me. White, two-story, stucco buildings
adorned with half-moon balconies nestle around a 1920-era home
that serves as the office. The property melds into the
neighborhood..."
A quiet swimming pool sparkles under swaying palm trees in
the shady courtyard, providing privacy from the bustling
village. Located inside the cottage is the well known Village
Pub which opens at five p.m. and caters to the local patrons
and travelers as well. The friendly and entertaining
bartenders welcome you to sit at the solid mahogany bar that
was brought over from England or relax in the leather chairs
in front of the original 1930 stone fireplace. It is truly as
if you have stepped back in time when you find your way to
this delightful property. You can easily imagine the perfect
wedding here and your hosts would be delighted to help you
make it happen. |

Fascinating activities as well as opportunities to bask in
natural beauty are plentiful on St. Simon's Island. Fort
Frederica National Park commemorates the town that was
established in 1736 to protect Georgia and South Carolina from
the Spanish in Florida. Today the park is known for its
exceptional natural beauty. The historic Christ Church at
Frederica was established in 1808 and is still operating
today. Popular evening entertainment at many fun nightspots,
fine restaurants, trolley tours of the island, casino cruises
and dozens of shopping venues provide endless island
entertainment.
When your travels take you to the timeless beauty of
Georgia's prettiest island, pamper yourself with a nostalgic
trip back to the romantic 1930's when you reserve
accommodations at the Village Inn and Pub bed and Breakfast. |
