The Tidewater Inn, Madison,
Connecticut - a classic Bed and Breakfast Inn in the heart of
the Connecticut Shore. The perfect escape to place.
The Tidewater Inn is located in the shoreline village of
Madison, Connecticut. This New England bed and breakfast inn
offers a comfortable and elegant atmosphere of antiques and
estate furniture. Overlooking Boston Post Road in a wooded
residential area, its large, shaded back yard slopes down to
meet Fence Creek. Lovely winter views of the tidal wetlands of
Long Island Sound are visible across the road in the front of
the house.
Each of the nine guest rooms is uniquely furnished and
affords private bath, cable television, air conditioning, and
telephone. The special occasion Madison room has an
oriental influence, offering a king-size four-poster bed plus
a sitting area that includes a love-seat and a large
wing-backed chair. The Cottage is a hide-away complete with a
king bed, separate sitting room, and Jacuzzi for two. All of
the lodging accommodations create their own special
atmosphere, as does the Inn's beamed sitting room with large
fireplace surrounded by comfortable furniture, perfect for
relaxing and good conversation.
At the other end of the large sitting room, guests will
enjoy a full breakfast each morning in front of a sunny bay
window. In the afternoon, complimentary hot or cold drinks are
offered, and in the early evening relax with a delightful
glass of wine, courtesy of the Inn. A favorite spot is the
English garden by the side of the house where guests enjoy
relaxing in the outdoors.
Tidewater Inn is within walking distance of the village of
Madison and within two miles of several Long Island Sound
beaches. The area offers many opportunities for shopping,
touring, and dining. Visit Gillette's Castle, ride the Essex
Steam Train, sail on Long Island Sound, explore the coastline
and lighthouses, or take a Thimble Island Cruise. |
Surrounding towns are known for their specialty shops,
colonial historic districts, craft and fine art galleries,
antique shops, and museums. Many colonial homes are open to
the public, including the Whitfield House. Dating from 1639,
it is the oldest house in Connecticut. The many area
restaurants offer dining choices ranging from shoreline casual
to special occasion elegance. During the summer, wonderful
events take place on the town green, and renowned Yale
University is only 20 miles away. There are a number of
excellent day trips to be enjoyed and a bevy of well produced
theater productions to see.
Tidewater Inn Bed and Breakfast is a terrific combination of
comfort and convenience with a wide array of interesting,
educational and entertaining things to do. |
