Situated along the
Connecticut River Valley Shoreline is the charming New England
village of Westbrook, home to Angel's Watch Bed and Breakfast.
The home is a
stately Federal building built by Horace Kelsey for his family
homestead in about 1880. The property on which the Inn stands
is rich with history. The Barry family bought the New England
homestead and made it into a Bed and Breakfast; in 1994, major
restorations began to restore the home to her original beauty.
The grounds are very
tranquil and peaceful. Park benches on which you may sit and
watch the world go by are placed in the front of the home. A
private, park-like yard is in the back of the house. Wicker
baskets, grills, bikes, and picnic tables are available.
Upon entering the
Inn, you are surrounded by comfortable elegance. There are
numerous antiques, and the home's decor has the charm and
tranquility of yesteryear with the added comfort and
convenience of today.
Five newly renovated
guest rooms have been beautifully furnished and decorated for
your pleasure and comfort. All lodging accommodations have
Vermont Casting fireplaces and private or private detached
baths. Two rooms have dual-person pedestal soaking tubs. Each
room has a small refrigerator stocked with complimentary beer,
wine, champagne, bottled water, iced tea, and soda. There is
also a fresh fruit and snack basket. Each room also has two
bathrobes, air conditioning, color cable TV with HBO, DVD
player (bring your own DVD or choose one from the Inn's
collection), VCR, radio/cassette/CD players, hair dryers, and
access to house phones and fax.
A full gourmet
breakfast is served every morning. Chocolate-dipped
strawberries are always available in season, as well as beer,
wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, bottled
water, teas, coffee, and fresh fruits.
The Connecticut
shoreline location of Angel's Watch provides an ample amount
of scenic sites, including the Westbrook Town Green, West
Beach, and the Marina District. Within a short drive you will
find fine restaurants, marinas, golf courses, beaches, art
galleries, specialty shops, antique shops, and movie theaters.
Local attractions such as Goodspeed Opera House, Gillette's
Castle, New England Steamboat, Essex Valley Railroad, and
numerous outlet stores are all convenient to Angel's Watch
Inn, and within 30 minutes you can tour Mystic Seaport, visit
the Mystic Aquarium, or try your luck at Foxwood and Mohegan
Sun Casinos.
