The town of Walsenburg is just east
of La Veta Pass, gateway to the San Luis Valley.
Walsenburg has a small-town
atmosphere, a few good restaurants and several places where a
die-hard fisherman can land a hook. Try Lathrop State Park just
west of town, offers hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing,
and camping in view of the grand Spanish Peaks. In hot summer
months, take a refreshing swim at the lake or go boating, fishing,
water skiing, sailing or jet skiing.
Area attractions include the San
Isabel National Forest, Spanish Peaks, the Sangre de Cristo
Mountains, Greenhorn Mountain and Wet Mountains. |
