From Berkeley, take I-80 east to Sacramento (50 to 60 miles). In
Sacramento, follow the South Lake Tahoe signs to Highway 50. Stay in
left-hand lanes following H50 towards South Lake Tahoe. Go 2 to 3
miles after joining H50 (past the Fresno turn off), and take Highway
16 exit to Jackson at Power Inn Road. Turn right on Power Inn Road,
and immediately move to the far-left lane to make a left turn at the
traffic light onto Folsom Blvd. - still on H16 towards Jackson.
Continue about 1 mile, turn right on Jackson Highway, H16. Follow
the road about 30 miles to intersection with Highway 49. Turn right
on H49 to Sutter Creek/Jackson. Go 6 miles, through Dry Town and
Amador City. Come down the hill into Sutter Creek. The Grey Gables
is on the right at the intersection of H49 and Amelia St., about 100
yards past the 30-MPH sign. Off-street parking is at the rear.
From South Bay (San Jose): I-880 North to
Hayward, then Highway 238 East and join I-580 East to Livermore.
Or take I-680 North to Pleasanton and join I-580 East to

joins I-5 North to Stockton (16 miles), then East on H4 (Downtown
Stockton) to Highway 99. Go North on H99 1 mile, then East on
Highway 88 to Jackson. Follow H88 through Lockford and Clements. 2
miles past Clements, make a left turn, still on H88, to Jackson.
Follow H88 about 20 miles. About 5 miles past the Ione turn off look
for the Sutter Creek left-turn sign at a railroad crossing and
follow it 2 miles to H49 (the only traffic signal in Amador
country). Turn left on H49 to Sutter Creek, 1 mile. Go through the
town, making the left turn as you leave Main Street. The Grey Gables
is 1 block out on the left-hand side. Turn left just past the Grey
Gables onto Amelia Street to the off-street parking at the rear.
