Located on the Mendocino Coast in Albion, California,
Fensalden Bed and Breakfast Inn was a stagecoach stop during
the 1860's.
Today, the rough-and-tumble Old West has given way to a
romantic, pampering lodging experience.
As you enter the Inn, you are greeted by an open
wood-burning fireplace in the Parlor, where the walls and
ceiling feature warm, rich-textured redwood. Common areas
offer books, a fax machine, PC hook-up, and a telephone for
guests' use. The new Sun Room is perfect for small receptions,
meetings, and seminars. Here the Fensalden staff can provide
catered meals for your event. Eight romantic accommodations
are available, each with ocean or garden view, fireplace,
private bathroom, and a complimentary bottle of wine.
There are four guestrooms and a suite located in the main
building. Each retreat features amenities such as a private
bath, fireplace, queen sized bed (Ridge Room offers a king
bed), hair dryer, plush robes, radio/CD/tape players, bar
refrigerator and lovely antique furnishings. The Hawthorne
Suite has a sitting room with original antiques
including a table that belonged to Nathaniel Hawthorne, the
innkeeper's great-great-grandfather. The other four rooms in
the Main House have a porch or balcony.
Two accommodations are located in the water tower structure,
which dates from the 1890's. The Tower Suite
contains a sitting room with fireplace and beautiful polished
wood staircase leading to the antique-furnished bedroom loft.
Downstairs is a completely furnished kitchen and a full bath.
The Tower Room features comfortable chairs,
wood-burning fireplace, antique queen bed, walk-in closet, and
bar refrigerator.
A full breakfast is served in the Tavern Room,
where the original redwood ceiling still shows bullet holes
from its early days. Warm yourself by the glass-front
wood-burning fireplace as you sit on the couch and large
overstuffed chairs and look out the floor-to-ceiling windows
to the ocean. Evening wine and hors d'oeuvres are also offered
in this room. |
For those wishing to get away to privacy and quiet, The
Bungalow offers this and much more. Located at the
north end of the acreage, this rustic yet modern cottage is
set at the head of the pasture and has unobstructed ocean
views. The fully carpeted main room has a gas stove in the
center, a love seat, and chairs. At the east end of the main
room is a queen bed, and a dining table is at the west end in
front of a large picture window overlooking the ocean. There
is also a sleeping alcove with a queen bed and two lofts, each
with a twin bed. You will also find a fully furnished kitchen,
full bath with Jacuzzi tub and a skylight, and separate
wood-paneled shower.
More than just lodging, Fensalden and her hosts offer
romance and relaxation to the traveler exploring the Mendocino
coast. Come enjoy the magic of "The Land of Sea and Mist,"
Fensalden Inn. |
