The town of Pearce is situated just
north of the United States/Mexico border and is considered a
modern day ghost town and is at the beginning of the infamous "Ghost
Town Trail" where towns lived and died according to the whims
of the ore veins that ran throughout the area.
The area around Pearce draws many
because of its mild climate year round and its proximity to major
towns.
Local area attractions include
Cochise Stronghold Canyon, which is a picnic and camping grounds,
and the Amerind Foundation, a nonprofit archaeological research
center and museum focused on the Native American culture of the
Southwest and Northern Mexico. There are collections of artifacts
from as far as the Artic and South America. |
