Sound good so far? There's more....
School House Inn is a historic brick school built in 1918 at
the height of Bisbee's mining days. Located high in the west
end of Tombstone Canyon, in a scenic Old Bisbee neighborhood,
the inn is a perfect getaway. Originally built as Garfield
School to accommodate grades one through four in four large
classrooms, the school was converted into apartments in the
1940's. In 1989, it became a Bed and Breakfast Inn. Copies of
the original school blueprints can be viewed in the main
stairway.
In keeping with its educational days past, each room has a
school subject theme. Just down the hall from the Principal's
Office and Library you will find the Music, History, Art,
Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic rooms. Pick your favorite
subject -- school was never this enjoyable! Each spacious room
offers you a private bath, comfortable beds, and 12-foot
ceilings in peaceful, home-like atmosphere.
Bisbee's wonderful mile-high climate provides you with
outdoor enjoyment year-round. Directly below the Inn, Garfield
Park provides basketball and volleyball for your enjoyment. |
School House Inn was selected "Best Place to Stay in
Southern Arizona" by Arizona Republic News. It is
recommended by Frommer, Mobile Travel Guide, Arizona's
Historic Escapes, and Sunset, Arizona Highways, and
Biz AZmagazines. The inn was also awarded Fodor's
Choice 2006, a preferred lodging establishment.
Finally, don't forget to spend some time exploring Old
Bisbee, an architectural masterpiece dating from 1910. Tour
the underground Copper Queen Mine, visit the unique gift
shops, antique stores, cafes, museums, and art galleries -- or
climb the many stairways ascending the mountains for the same
breathtaking view of the old town that the copper miners had
in the early 1900's. |
