It's waiting to greet you with the
same friendly hospitality that guests have been
experiencing there for over a century. Since 1886, when
John Webb, a Civil War veteran, successful merchant, and
Mountain View's first postmaster, opened his home (then
known as The Dew Drop Inn) to traveling salesmen, circuit
riders, preachers and other weary travellers. Even through
several transitions from inn to boarding house back to
inn, the house has maintained a reputation for
hospitality. Now known as The INN at Mountain View, the B&B
offers its own unique blend of warmth and comfort. It all
starts with visitors being welcomed by the large front
porch with its alluring rocker that invites you to sit a
spell and listen to the breeze in the Maple trees, renew
old acquaintances, and build new friendships.
Painstaking measures were taken to
restore this attractive home without affecting the
original structure's graceful lines. A favored
turn-of-the-century guest could still identify the big
front porch, high ceilings, carved woodwork and rich, dark
wainscoting. But mostly, he or she would recognize The
Inn's unique blend of classic Victorian elegance, southern
hospitality and down-home comfort which has been a
trademark since the 1890's. That guest would feel right at
home in the midst of the Inn's period antiques, hand-made
quilts, and embroidered linens. However, nothing has been
spared in the way of modern day amenities to assure your
comfort. Each of the Inn's 11 guest suites is steeped with
such comforts as a private bath, air conditioning, ceiling
fans, and carpeting.
Part of your stay at The Inn at
Mountain View includes waking up to the savory smells of a
satisfying seven-entree breakfast. The warm and friendly
ambiance is part of breakfast as well, as guests gather
family-style around lovely oversized oak tables.
Taste-tempting dishes may include fluffy home made
biscuits with sausage gravy, Belgian waffles topped with
fruit compote, scrambled eggs, fresh fruits, lots of juice
and bottomless cups of coffee.
The Inn at Mountain View blends the
best of the past and the present for a lodging experience
you'll never forget. So come on in! Experience good old
down-home hospitality that has been a tradition for over a
century. |
