Situated on a quiet wooded road, The Robinhood Free Meetinghouse was built in 1855 in the classical Greek Revival style typical of Georgetown Island. Over the years, the structure served as a meetinghouse, high school, and library for the community. Renovation and restoration began in the early 1990's to add a state-of-the-art kitchen and restaurant facility. Great care and considerable expense assured a pleasing combination of history with a commercial operation.

The Meetinghouse and Chef Gagné have been rated Five Stars by the Maine Sunday Telegram. The menu is varied and exquisite. From appetizers to desserts, Chef Gagné features the freshest ingredients of the highest quality in his imaginative dishes with a wide variety of regional flavors, from Cajun to Asian, seafood to steak.

Michael A. Gagné, chef-owner of The Robinhood Free Meetinghouse, is regionally renowned for fresh, fusion, classic, and innovative signature dishes - formal food in a casual and relaxed atmosphere.

A Maine native, Chef Gagné has practiced his culinary expertise from coast to coast for more than thirty years.

He has been the chef of a private yacht; spa chef at La Costa Country Club in Carlsbad, California; Executive Chef at the historic Red Fox Tavern in Middlesburg, Virginia; and operated The Osprey Restaurant, also in Georgetown, from 1986 to 1994. Michael opened the restaurant and catering business at The Meetinghouse in 1995.

Chef Gagné has been featured in Downeast Magazine, in an article on mid-coast Maine in Travel & Leisure Magazine, in The New York Times "At the Nation's Table," in the Boston Globe, and in numerous other publications. He has also won first place in the Coastal Chowder Challenge, been awarded "Editor's Pick" by Yankee Magazine, and received an Award of Merit from the Chaine des Roitisseurs.

The Meetinghouse also offers private wine tasting dinners, cooking classes, and both on-and off-premise catering (including lobster bakes). The second-floor chapel, with its 16-foot ceiling and 10-foot windows, has been painstakingly preserved and is often used for weddings and private gatherings.
